Thoughts on this cage?

Postby cheebamaster » Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:26 am

I just ordered this cage http://www.ebay.com/itm/40-x31-x70-Larg ... 35b932049a

for supppper cheap...It looks like a complete steal. I was wondering if anyone else purchases similar cages on ebay...I don't want to end up with something that is toxic. Will I be okay with this? Or should i fork out extra cash for a name brand...going to have a baby african grey in a few weeks

Looks nice. I'm also on the hunt for a cage for my CAG which hasn't weened yet.

Is "Black Vein" the manufacturer? It's hard to tell. My only advice is to find out what the manufacturer is and then do some googling around for info on it's paint toxicity or lack thereof.

I think that's a great size!

I've had terrible terrible experiences with the 'no name' or 'cheap but good quality' cages, like toxic metals, malfitting/flimsy/missing parts and sharp welds or jagged pieces (I sliced my hands and knees on the cage, my TAG knicked herself as well). Not to mention it takes forever to put them together and the paint job is often crappy/damaged or the bars themselves are---they rust easy too.
So for me--- NO *^&%$ING WAY!!! I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A CHEAP CAGE AGAIN!!!

That said, YMMV and you could get lucky. Myself, I'd go good quality in a size you can afford first---and start quickly saving. I'm looking into the aluminium cage line from Kings Cages---my TAG lives in their largest aluminium travel carrier and though it is small for her I've been extremely impressed with it quality-wise and I know that she's safe and I am quickly amassing money to purchase the big enough cage.

Hey grey moon..I received the cage and put it together...it is rather cheap lol...and I don't like it...I found a great company though based in the USA and will be buying from them..they are expensive but offer powder-coat cages and a unique feeding system...check them out

Seems way overpriced. Don't care if the cages are made out of gold! There are reasonable limits.
