You have probably already tried this but have you tried putting vet wrap around the pvc? Birds dont tend to like things they cannot grip easily.

Inspired by Michael's wonderful Java playtree, I decided it was time to do some upgrading on Stitch and Leroys play stand I built earlier this year. It's one of their perches in our living room, which apart from the bird room is the area where they spend the most time, so I want them to have several good places to hang out!

With the additional branches and toys I expect them to hang out on the "tree" even more now, and when they've taken the leaves off, I am adding more toys :) ! So now they have this tree, a top shelf, two perches and a window sill perch to hang out on (apart from all furniture etc) ^^.

The updated version of their perch/"tree"

Video of them sitting/seeing the tree for the first time. It was quite late, about 15min before bedtime so they were more interested in preening each other than the tree to be honest ^^.

Brilliant :) they will have loads of fun pruning that.

Ollie wouldn't touch the leaves on his until they dried up and made a noise to scrunch up.

Great job. The birds really seem to enjoy it. The great thing about doing it quick and cheap is that you can just redo it and change it often. This keeps the birds interested as well as used to changes.

Cheers everyone, I am quite happy with how it has turned out so far. When they clear away the leaves and twigs I will add more toys and I think it will work very well.

Ideally I would love a tree such as Michael's or Trisha's but java perches or trees just arent available here. I think this turned out well with what was available :).

Will update with a pic after the parrots clear the tree and toys are added, I expect this to take a while as they were just goofing around on the tree today rather than ripping the leaves off. I was quite suprised as they usually clear branches I put in their cages in less than an hour ^^.
