***ADOPTION***
Merlin and Willow were adopted!
Merlin is a female Mustache Parakeet, and Willow is a Black Capped Conure, presumably male.
These two are a bonded pair. They were first rescued by a very kind man who took them from a woman who was trying to give them away to a pet store like a Petco or Petsmart. I forget the exact details, but when the store wouldn't take them, she said she was just going to let them go. He took the birds to keep that from happening. He kept them ling enough to find us, and bring the birds to the rescue. Even though they weren't his birds, and we would have waived it, he insisted on paying the relinquish fee, and donating the cage. He also made us promise to keep them together. We never break up bonded pairs, but cohabitants aren't necessarily bonded. There are also situations in which birds of much different sizes need to be separated for the safety of the smaller bird. Bonded or not, keeping an amazon with a budgie is not fair to the budgie and that budgie is almost sure to be badly hurt eventually.
These two were bonded for real, and are close enough in size that that could indeed be kept together.
They're both very sweet, and very different. They took to their new owner right away. I'm going to miss having them around. The mustache parakeet, especially.
