Hello from southern CA

Postby Suzzique » Fri Feb 12, 2010 4:11 pm

Hello,

I live in southern CA and have a cag and a senegal. My greys name is Alex and the senegal is Martini. We bought Alex as a baby and he is now in his terrible twos. Alex has always been flighted and is amazing to watch (in the house). We took Martini in as a rehome about a year and a half ago. He had never flown more than the controled flutter to the gound. We worked with him to first build up his flight musles then got him flying. Once all his clipped flights molted out he got even better. He still dosn't have the control that Alex does but he is getting there.

It's been a while sense I've posted pictures to a forum. So as soon as I figure it out again I will post. :) I will have to try and get a good one of Martini's eyes. I've never seen another senegal with his color of eyes. He has orange eyes.

It really depends on when they are clipped and the type of bird. My daughters green cheeks seem to need to be clipped about 3 times a year. With Martini she had just clipped him after his molt so it took a year for all the clipped ones to fall out and grow back in. Though she didn't just go and clip everything she did leave some long so that helped him fly sooner once we had built up his wing muscles again.
