Neither of mine scream. Sweetpea virtually just talks human while Zoey would, sometimes, do a little screech but not often. Not that they cannot if they wanted to but I guess that the fact that I never go anywhere for more than a couple of hours and then, only when I go shopping which is always after they are put in their cages makes it OK for them.
As to their speaking ability, I've had three females and one male and, of the females, only one spoke and just said her name, 'Cowboy', but the male is a genius at cognitive speech and able to have actual conversations with me. He has a large vocabulary of words and phrases and has even made up a couple of words -like 'NiteNite eat it' which means dinner to him. He is also quite bossy and loves to give commands to other animals, dogs, cats and birds - but the commands are ALWAYS spot on! Like he tells the dogs to 'Shut up!' when they bark or to "Get up there'' (for them to go upstairs), 'Go go go' (to go downstairs), 'Get in get in get in' (to go into a room), 'Stop it!' when there is a hullabaloo
The only thing he says which I have not been able to figure out why he does it or what exactly he means is when I am sweeping or mopping the floors and he follows me around asking me incessantly: 'Whachoodoing?' I always answer the same thing: "Cleaning. I am cleaning". I sweep and mop the floors every single morning and every single morning he follows me around asking the same thing: 'Whachoodoing?' to which he gets the same exact response and for the life of me, I don't know why because he should know by now what the answer is going to be! The only thing I can think of is that he is fascinated by the activity (although I don't see why) and that his "Whachoodoing?' is his way of letting me know of his fascination...
